Historiquement, c&rsquo;est Henri Chr\u00e9tien qui a mis au point un <b>catadioptre<\/b> \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque en 1917 et l&rsquo;a brevet\u00e9 sous l&rsquo;appellation de \u00ab\u00a0cataphote\u00a0\u00bb ensuite en 1923. Les catadioptres sont des dispositifs optiques fonctionnant par r\u00e9tro-r\u00e9flexion qui ont pour but d\u2019agir sur la signalisation des v\u00e9hicules face aux autres usagers de la route. Les catadioptres sont souvent install\u00e9s sur des objets ou des v\u00e9hicules dans le but de pouvoir les discerner dans le noir. Ils jouent pleinement leur r\u00f4le gr\u00e2ce aux rayons de lumi\u00e8re qui r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissent sur eux.<\/p><p>Il faut noter que les <b>catadioptres<\/b> restent efficaces en temps diurne car ils renvoient toujours des rayons qui ne se dispersent pas. Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, les <b>dispositifs optiques catadioptriques<\/b> provoquent la r\u00e9flexion des rayons de lumi\u00e8re approchant l&rsquo;infrarouge ou visibles dirig\u00e9s vers le faisceau lumineux qui entre et ce peu importe l&rsquo;angle qui entre en jeu. En effet, l&rsquo;utilit\u00e9 des catadioptres est qu&rsquo;ils servent de <strong>moyen de signalisation<\/strong> aux autres usagers qui vous \u00e9clairent avec leur source de lumi\u00e8re. Les catadioptres servent \u00e0 <strong>indiquer que vous \u00eates pr\u00e9sent<\/strong> ou g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement la pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;un objet sur la route au cas o\u00f9 cette derni\u00e8re ne dispose pas d&rsquo;\u00e9clairage suffisant.<\/p><p>En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, <strong>ces dispositifs r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissants fonctionnent passivement<\/strong>. L&rsquo;importance des catadioptres est donc de cr\u00e9er une signalisation lumineuse \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re des v\u00e9hicules ou sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 et d&rsquo;indiquer par exemple dans l&rsquo;obscurit\u00e9 nocturne votre position lors d&rsquo;un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drivecase.fr\/conseils-prevention\/securite-velo\/depassement-cycliste-distance-ligne-continue\/\">d\u00e9passement de cycliste<\/a>. De nombreux <strong>catadioptres <\/strong>plus performants ont la possibilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00eatre vus par d&rsquo;autres usagers que la personne qui les \u00e9claire. Cette \u00e9ventualit\u00e9 n&rsquo;intervient souvent que si votre v\u00e9lo ou voiture \u00e9quip\u00e9 de catadioptres se trouvat \u00e0 une position qui n&rsquo;est pas \u00e9loign\u00e9e du
